The Compounding Effect of Intentional Choices

My recent extensive bloodwork gave me an interesting data point.
At nearly 45, my biological age is 28.9.
The testing looked far beyond the markers typically included in a routine physical, so naturally, the number got my attention.
But it has made me think less about the number and more about what it represents because there have been no shortcuts. I just don’t take them.
Instead, it has been 15 years of choices. Some physical. Many emotional, mental, relational and spiritual. There were practices nobody saw. Conversations I didn’t want to have. Things I had to confront and let go. Habits I had to replace.
And perhaps most importantly, a willingness to keep doing the work long after the novelty wore off.
That’s the part of health we don’t talk about enough. The compounding.
We have become incredibly good at optimization. So often, we want the supplement without changing the lifestyle. The productivity hack without changing the way we work. The leadership framework without confronting ourselves.
The choices that change us rarely feel transformational in the moment, in fact, they feel small. Even boring. Uncomfortable. Hard. Invisible. But they add up, just like that Roth IRA you learned about in Finance 101.
The results eventually become visible and felt. That’s true of our physical health. It’s true of our emotional health, our relationships, our careers.
I’m proud of a biological age of 28.9. But I’m even more proud of the 15 years of intentional choices behind it. And there is a lot more to that story.
Over the coming weeks, I’m going to share more of the choices behind the number, including some that have very little to do with what most people consider “health.”
Because 28.9 is a data point. The real story is what it took to get there.

I’ve spent 15 years doing this work on myself, and one thing I’ve learned is that a fresh perspective rarely comes from simply trying harder inside the life you’re already living. Sometimes you need to step outside of it.
Outside the calendar. The expectations. The noise. The roles everyone else knows you as.
You need enough space to hear yourself think again. To ask questions you haven’t had time to ask. To notice what you’ve normalized. To decide what you want to carry forward and what you’re finally ready to leave behind.
This is the philosophy behind The Alignment Immersion, a four-day experience I created in partnership with The Ranch Hudson Valley.
I wanted to create something you can't find anywhere else. A space where the depth of the leadership and personal work I’ve spent years developing could exist alongside the restorative environment, movement, treatments and intentional practices The Ranch is known for.
I'll be with an exceptional group of women (some I've invited, others I've attracted) who have reached a point in their lives where the question is no longer simply, “What’s next?” It’s, “What do I want next to look and feel like?”
This is time to step outside your life long enough to see it clearly, with the guidance of someone who has spent years doing the same work herself, and alongside women who understand what it means to operate at this level.
The Alignment Immersion is not an escape from your life, but a chance to see it differently.
